Settlement Colony vs. Dependent Colony

There is a major difference between settlement colonies and dependent colonies. Settlement colonies are large groups of people from one country living together in a new country. Dependent colonies are when a few officials from one country rule people from another country. Dependent colonies were controlled by officials from England in places like India where they took over and said they were there to help. Settlement colonies were as such as Australia they ruled themselves people immigrated from England and cam to Australia they did not have a government for a long time so it was up to them to resolve things and a lot of problems can occur. With dependent colonies they controlled that empire which means they had more people to add tot their forces of army and navy. Also forces like the French made a dependent colony out of Africa so they would have more military forces. The stronger countries were able to gain new concepts and ideas from the colonies they took over in the process.
